Common Sandpipers / Drillsnäppa are fast fliers with abrupt wing movements. This individual was feeding on the coast of Klagshamn, Malmö when it was spooked by a passing dog-walker. It then flew along the shore towards me. I had to be quick with the camera both in terms of having the bird in focus but also the correct settings. The sky was overcast and the water gave an almost metallic sheen that complimeted the sandpiper’s colors.

This photograph is printed on a quality matte paper and framed with a semi-hardwood alder frame, and a smooth, white mat board.
