Klagshamn is my favorite place in Malmö. It is a peninsula that contains several different types of habitats such as woodland, scrub and thickets, mudflats, marshland, open fields, and flowery meadows. It is this diversity of habitat that makes Klagshamn so attractive not only for birds but also for other wildlife like the Red Fox / Rödräv (Vulpes vulpes) or Roe Deer / Rådjur (Capreolus capreolus) and a wide diversity of insects including the rare Lesser Emperor Dragonfly / Mindre Kejsartrollslända (Anax parthenope). It is also home to Sweden’s acutely endangered Green Toad / grönfläckig padda (Bufotes viridis) that’s on the national red list. Klagshamn was designated a nature reserve in 2019.
