Between Klagshamn and the Öresund bridge is Bunkeflostrand strand. This area comprises coastal meadows (ängar) that have been used as grazing land since the bronze age and are thus culturally significant. A type of cattle that’s a mix between Aberdeen Angus and Highland Cattle are released in the fields during the summer in order to keep the meadows open and prevent overgrowth. The area also has some wooded parts, which adds to the diversity of habitats. Due to its importance for breeding and migrating birdlife and its cultural significance, Bunkeflostrand was designated a nature reserve back in 2007 as Malmö’s first nature reserve.

How to get there:

Skånetrafiken (32 minutes) - From the Malmö C take stadsbuss #4 towards Bunkeflostrand (via Limhamn). The bus stop (E) is opposite the train station entrance on the same side as the canal. Get off at Bunkeflostrand Bunkeflovägen. See map below for a detailed view of the area.
